These are average monthly US searches over the 12 months to September 2026, from Google Ads data via DataForSEO. Your city will see a fraction of each, but the ratios hold.

Plan your articles around the season

HVAC demand swings harder than almost any other trade. US searches for “ac repair” ran at 165,000 in December 2025 and 673,000 in July 2026, about four times as many. “Furnace repair near me” went the other way: 27,100 in May 2026, 135,000 in January and again in September. Articles take weeks to be found and ranked, so publish cooling articles in early spring and heating articles in late summer, before the rush.

Google Business Profile

• Set the primary category to the closest match for your main work, such as HVAC contractor, and add the rest as secondary categories.
• If customers don't visit your shop, hide the address and set a service area. Google allows up to 20 service areas and says the area shouldn't extend farther than about 2 hours of driving from your base (Google Business Profile Help).
• List every service, your real hours and whether you take emergency calls after hours.

• One page per service: AC repair, AC installation, furnace repair, heat pumps, ductwork, maintenance plans.

Reviews

• 47% of consumers won't use a business with fewer than 20 reviews, and 74% only read reviews from the last three months (BrightLocal, 2026). Ask after every completed job, with a one-click review link.

• Keep your name, address and phone the same everywhere, from Yelp and Angi to the BBB. See NAP consistency.
• Get listed on the dealer locators of the equipment brands you install, and with your local chamber and trade association.

What AI answers cite for HVAC companies

On Sep 25, 2026, Rank.ai asked ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini 8 questions about HVAC companies in Austin, such as “best AC repair in Austin”. The 24 answers named 49 different companies, and the most named, Precision Heating & Air, appeared in 14 of them. 21 companies were named by a single answer only, so being named once is easy and being named consistently is the hard part.
